Build

Software Development

Ideas are cheap; shipped software is not. I help you get from “we should build something” to a working product people actually use, without burning the budget on the wrong thing.

Where I come in

  • From idea to spec. Turning a rough concept into something a developer can build without guessing, and you can budget without surprises.
  • The right stack. Choosing technology that fits the job and your future, not whatever’s fashionable this year.
  • Managing the build. Running developers and delivery so the thing that ships is the thing you asked for, on a timeline you can see.
  • MVP first. Getting a lean, genuinely useful first version live so you learn from real users, not assumptions.
  • Rescue and review. Stepping into a build that’s gone over time, over budget, or off-course, and getting it back on track.
  • Technical due diligence. A plain-English read on a product, codebase or vendor before you buy, invest or commit.

How I work

I’ve built and launched a live platform end to end (records, dashboards, certificate generation, verification and integrations with external data), so I speak both languages: what the business needs and what the code can actually do. That’s the gap most software projects fall into.

Depending on the job I’ll write code myself, or spec and manage a development team on your behalf. The point is a product that ships and works, and a client who understands what they’re paying for at every stage.

Common questions

Do you write the code yourself or manage a team?

Both, depending on scope. For smaller builds and prototypes I’ll often build directly. For larger products I’ll define the work, choose and manage the developers, and stay accountable for delivery.

Can you rescue a project that’s gone wrong?

Frequently, yes. A cool, honest review usually finds the real problem: scope that was never nailed down, the wrong architecture, or a team that’s lost the thread. And there’s almost always a route back to a working product.

I only have an idea. Is that enough to start?

That’s a good place to start. The first job is turning the idea into a clear, costed specification and a sensible first version. You don’t need to know the technology; that’s my part.

Tell me what you’re trying to build.
